Georgia Tech’s women’s 4×100 meter relay team of Dana Rogers, Ashlee Kidd, Andriane Lapsley and Amandi Rhett set a school record with a time of 44.03, and senior Brendon Mahoney posted a season-best time of 1:50.59 in the 800 meters to highlight Saturday’s action at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the Griffin Track.

Mahoney achieved the NCAA regional qualifying standard in the 800 meters one day after running a personal best and NCAA qualifying time in the 1500 meters.

The women’s relay team broke the previous Tech record of 44.35, set last season, while easily surpassing the NCAA regional qualifying standard.

In addition to anchoring the relay, Rhett also finished second in the 100 meters with a time of 11.65, just one one-hundreth of a second behind Lakadron Ivery of Baylor, and sixth in the 200 meters with a season-best 23.55 clocking. She had already qualified for the NCAA regionals in both events.

Rogers also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.70 clocking. The junior from Atlanta is the sister of former Tech football standouts Nick Rogers, now with the Minnesota Vikings, and Philip Rogers.

Sophomore high jump sensation Chaunte Howard, the NCAA indoor champion, won the event with a jump of 6-1.25 feet.

Sophomore Andriane Lapsley tallied a season-best time of 13.87 in the 100mHH, bettering her NCAA Region qualifying time in the event. Laplsey finished fifth in the event.
