Women’s Basketball Promotions for ACC Games Announced

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball welcomes nine Atlantic Coast Conference opponents to McCamish Pavilion, beginning this Sunday, and fans won’t want to miss any of the action or promotions.

Fan and student promotions are planned for nearly every game, beginning with a concessions promotions on Sunday against Florida State. Four of Tech’s home conference games also feature halftime performances.

Tech’s game on Jan. 15 against Duke presented by Delta will serve as women’s basketball’s annual “Alumni Weekend,” welcoming back former letterwinners to McCamish Pavilion. The game will also feature a book drive for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Fans are encouraged to bring a new book to the game. The donated books will be used as part of an early literacy program to help patients understand the importance of reading at an early age. These materials are essential to helping families build their in-home libraries knowing language builds literacy and literacy builds success.

On Feb. 2, the Jackets will hold its National Girls & Women in Sports Day game against NC State, and the annual “Think Pink” game will be held on Feb. 12 against Pitt. Tech’s game on Feb. 16 against Wake Forest will be its Honoring Black Excellence observance, and the Yellow Jackets will recognize their senior class at the final home game on Feb. 26 versus Virginia Tech.

Tech is also running a season-long promotion sponsored by R.S. Andrews in which t-shirts are tossed into the stands when the Jackets make a three-pointer. Fans can win a t-shirt by holding up their ‘3’ signs that can be picked up at the main gate.

Tickets are currently on sale for all nine ACC home games with prices as low as $5 for youth and senior citizen, and begin at $7 for adults for both reserved seating and general admission. Groups of 10 or more will receive a discounted ticket price. Custom group experiences are also available by contacting Tori Josselson (vjosselson@athletics.gatech.edu or 404-385-1894).

Georgia Tech resumes ACC play on Sunday, hosting Florida State at 2 p.m.

Competitive Drive Initiative

In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative met its initial fundraising goal of $2.5 million in less than six weeks and has extended its target to $3.5 million raised by Dec. 31. Any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, meaning that if the $3.5 million fundraising goal is met, the matching gift would result in a $7 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
