Williams Places 19th on Day Two of NCAA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Jacqua Williams, the only competitor for the Georgia Tech track and field teams on day two of the NCAA Championships, placed 19th overall in the 200-meter at Hornet Stadium.

Williams, a sophomore from Seattle, Wash., earned an at-large bid into the championship meet with a top time at the NCAA East Region Championships last week. The sprinter finished today’s prelim with a time of 23.55, finishing .02 of a second behind the final semifinal qualifier.

Eight Yellow Jackets will return to action tomorrow beginning with sophomore Kimery Hern in the women’s hammer throw final at 11:00 a.m. PT. Senior Fatmata Fofanah will begin the running events for Tech, as she lines up for the 100-meter hurdle finals at 5:45 p.m. PT.

Senior James Lemons II and freshman Alphonso Jordan will compete in the triple jump prelims at 1:45 p.m. PT.
