Williams, Matthews Ready for NCAAs

THE FLATS — Both Bria Matthews and Jeanine Williams will compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 8-9 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.

Matthews will compete in the women’s triple jump on Saturday, March 9 at 3:30 p.m as the lone ACC representative competing with the best student-athletes in the country. She will go up against the likes of Yanis David of Flordia and Marie-Josee Ebwea-Excel of Kentucky, who currently hold the top two marks in the triple jump this season.

Matthews is prepared for Nationals after coming off an all-ACC performance, winning the triple jump with a 13.21 mark. Her 13.21 mark is the best in the ACC and 16th best in the country.

On the track, Williams will compete in the 60m hurdles and will begin competition on Friday, March 8 at 6:07 p.m and finals will ensue on Saturday, March 9 at 4:30 p.m.

Williams last competed in the ACC Indoor Championships where she finished second overall in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.09, earning all-ACC honors. She will go up against ACC foe Tiara McMinn of the ACC who has the best time in the ACC, second best in the nation with a time of 7.95.

Williams is right behind McMinn as she currently sits in third in the ACC, 12th overall with a season-best time of 8.09.
