Welcome To Tech Town

Aug. 24, 2011

Special to Sting Daily

Atlantic Station is going to be Buzzing during the 2011 college football season.

Georgia Tech Athletics and the new-look Atlantic Station, on Aug. 27, are launching Tech Town, a partnership that includes a new Atlantic Station-Georgia Tech game-day shuttle, Atlantic Station discounts for Tech students, faculty and staff and a series of weekend pep rallies and concerts around 2011 Tech football games.

“This will be one of the most significant partnerships for the Georgia Tech football weekend experience in many years,” said Wayne Hogan, Tech’s Associate Athletic Director. “This will truly give Yellow Jacket students, alumni and fans a gathering place on Friday and Saturdays during the fall. Atlantic Station, under new management, has successfully transformed itself over the last year into a fun, safe and fan-friendly environment. The demographic of its customers, retail shops and eating establishments are aligning perfectly into this Tech Town concept. We all share the same neighborhood.”

Georgia Tech and Atlantic Station will host a kick-off event for Tech Town and the Yellow Jackets 2011 football season Saturday (Aug. 27) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event in the complex’s Central Park will feature some Tech football players, the Yellow Jacket Marching Band, the Georgia Tech cheerleaders, Tech merchandise and a ticket giveaway to the season home opener vs. Western Carolina on Sept. 1 – plus special appearances from Buzz and The Ramblin’ Wreck.

The Aug. 27 event also will launch a series of Friday Night Fan Fests – tailgate-style celebrations of spirit, live music, food and fun for Georgia Tech students, alumni and fans. Friday Night Fan Fests will coincide with the five home Saturday game football weekends and will be free and open to the public.

“This will truly become the place for Tech fans to gather on home game weekends,” Hogan said. “Atlantic Station is going all out to convert the property into a dynamic Yellow Jacket appearance, with banners, signs, posters and visuals to make Jacket fans feel at home.”

In collaboration with Georgia Tech, Atlantic Station will provide game day parking and shuttle service to and from the stadium during Saturday home games beginning Sept. 17 (game day parking will be $10 per vehicle). There will be no shuttle service for the two Thursday night games – including the opener on September 1st.

Tech Town’s organizational partners include the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, IMG College, Georgia Tech Department of Parking & Transportation and Atlantic Station.

Tech Town offers an exciting promotional platform for sponsors of all types and sizes with benefits including signage, product demonstration/displays, product sales and sampling rights – even car test drive opportunities.

Research concludes that college sports is followed passionately by over 172 million Americans (and 72 million American women). And no major city in the nation delivers a more knowledgeable college football fan base than Atlanta. The engagement of Atlantic Station and Tech Town to this love of the college game will offer the perfect corporate sponsorship opportunity for companies of all sizes.

For Yellow Jacket and opposing team fans traveling from out of town, Atlantic Station will also offer parking for RVs for the same weekend games (RV parking will be $30 per day). For more details regarding game day parking, visit www.atlanticstation.com.
