BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Georgia Tech volleyball team is off to its best start under four-year head coach Tonya Johnson as it swept Cleveland State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-20), to maintain a perfect 5-0 record. With the loss, the Vikings fall to 4-2 overall.

The Yellow Jackets are one win away from earning the program’s 700th overall victory, and they will look to accomplish that feat tonight against host Indiana at 7 p.m.

The Vikings were led by Kara Koch with 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage. Cleveland State was only able to put up one block against Tech.

Attacking errors kept Cleveland State out of the first set as they averaged a .000 hitting percentage and couldn’t muster more than 14 points.

Tech continued its momentum into the second set, taking an early 4-1 lead. The Vikings then went on a 6-1 run to take the lead, 7-5. A kill by Felinski and a service ace by Mead put Tech up 8-7, and the Yellow Jackets never lost the lead to win the set.

The Vikings came out of the break between sets with new life and the Yellow Jackets had to play catch up the entire match. It wasn’t until the score was tied 18-18 that Tech finally found its rhythm, and went on a 5-1 run thanks to a pair of kills by Felinski, one from Annie Czarnecki and three service aces from Hunter. The Yellow Jackets won the set and match on two kills from Mead.
