Volleyball standouts Kele Eveland and Lauren Sauer were each named to the Verizon Academic All-District III volleyball first team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To be eligible for the Verizon Academic all-District and All-America teams, a player must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and be a starter or important reserve. Both athletes are now eligible for the Verizon Academic all-America team, which will be voted on later in the year.
Eveland, a senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., is a second-time honoree who maintains a 3.76 GPA in Management. She is the starting setter for the No. 6 volleyball team which currently has a 27-1 record. Eveland is second on Tech’s career assist list with 5,941 and is currently ranked first in the nation in assists per game (15.10).
Sauer, a junior from Huntsville, Ala., is a first-time honoree who maintains a 3.61 GPA in Management. A two-time ACC Player of the Week, Sauer is a starting outside hitter who currently leads the team in kills (391) and is second on the team in kills per game (4.25).
