TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Nov. 7) – With a season high 13 aces, the Georgia Tech volleyball team defeated Florida State on Sunday afternoon in four games, 10-15, 15-5, 15-12, 15-2. Georgia Tech improves their record to 16-11, 6-8 while Florida State falls to 8-19, 1-13 on the season. In game one, the Seminoles took an early 2-0 lead and never looked back as they captured the game 15-10 behind the hitting of Norisha Campbell who had four kills and Aisha Thornton who had five.
Game two saw the Jackets serve the Seminoles tough as Courtney Adler collected four aces, Amanda Medrow tallied two, and Alexis Moran served one.
In game three, Tech jumped out to an early 12-3 lead, but the Seminoles would rally and capitalize on poor passing by the Jackets and several hitting errors. FSU brought the game to 13-12 before Courntey Adler served the final two points.
Georgia Tech continued to play well in game four as the Jackets led 14-0 before FSU would collect two points. Christine Shelby earned the final point for the Jackets, acing Erika Bunch.
Offensively, the Yellow Jackets were led by Ky Bell who tallied 14 kills and Teryl Townsend who had 12. Amanda Medrow collected 12 digs while Townsed added 10. Anna Nedderman performed well on the afternoon hitting .429 (7-1-14) and collecting six block assists. Courtney Adler tallied 42 assists and a career high six service aces on the afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets will return to Atlanta to close out their Atlantic Coast Conference schedule this weekend facing Duke on Friday night and Wake Forest on Saturday night. Both matches are in O’Keefe Gymnasium and will be at 7:30 p.m.
