Tyaunna Marshall Named to Wade Watch List

Oct. 8, 2013

ATLANTA – Senior Tyaunna Marshall has been named to the 2013-14 Preseason “Wade Watch” list the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today.

The Wade Trophy is presented annually to the NCAA Division I Player of the Year by the National Association of Girls and Women in Sport (NAGWS) and the WBCA. Marshall is one of 25 student-athletes from 18 institutions and seven conferences on the preseason watch list. The ACC placed a list-high six student-athletes on the list.

Marshall was a 2013 AP and WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and was named to the All-ACC First Team. Marshall was also named to the 2013 ACC All-Defensive Team. The 5-9 guard led Tech last season, averaging 18.1 ppg and 8.4 rpg. Marshall was the only player in the ACC to rank in the conference’s top 10 in scoring, rebounding and steals in 2012-13.

The Upper Marlboro, Md. native enters her senior season with 1,520 career points which ranks eighth on Georgia Tech’s all-time list. Marshall is one of just five Yellow Jackets all-time with at least 1,500 career points and 600 career rebounds.

The preseason list is composed of top NCAA Division I women’s basketball players who best embody legendary three-time national champion Delta State University coach, Lily Margaret Wade’s spirit. A committee of coaches, administrators and media from across the United States compiled the list using the following criteria: game and season statistics, leadership, character, effect on their team, and overall playing ability.
