Two Yellow Jackets Move Onto the Finals in Day One at Clemson Indoor Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams opened up the indoor track season at the Clemson Invitational tonight. Sophomore Andriane Lapsley (San Antonio, Texas) led the Yellow Jackets with two qualifying marks in the 60-meter dash (7.62) and 60-meter hurdles (8.85). The invitational will conclude tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 6, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Senior sprinter Amandi Rhett (Willingboro, N.J.) won the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49 to qualify for the finals tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 p.m.

Sophomore Simone Parker (Lithonia, Ga.) led the throwers for the Georgia Tech women with a toss of 48’01.25″ to finish third in flight two. Fellow sophomore Brandy Depland (Katy, Texas) ended the long jump in fourth place in flight three with a jump of 18’08.50″.

Freshmen Jordan Crosby (Fort Dodge, Iowa) and James Lemons II (Atlanta, Ga.) led the Jacket men in the first day of competition. Crosby crossed the finish line in 8.70 in the 60-meter hurdles. Lemons placed seventh in the second flight with a long jump of 21’10.25″.

Day two of the Clemson Indoor Invitational will conclude tomorrow beginning at 10:30 a.m. The track meet is scheduled to run till 5 p.m. tomorrow.
