GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech senior center Kevin Tuminello was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the Yellow Jackets’ 13-3 win over 13th-ranked Clemson on Saturday.
Georgia Tech produced 189 yards of rushing offense, including 145 by senior tailback Tashard Choice, against Clemson. Tuminello and the Yellow Jacket offensive line also prevented quarterback Taylor Bennett from being sacked. He played 62 snaps against the Tigers, recording nine knockdown blocks and earning praise from offensive line coach Joe D’Alessandris.
Tuminello, a Rimington Trophy Candidate, has been instrumental in Georgia Tech leading the ACC in rushing offense and in fewest sacks allowed (4).
Tuminello is the second Georgia Tech offensive lineman to win the award and the fourth Yellow Jacket to earn Player of the Week honors. Junior tackle Andrew Gardner was the Offensive Lineman of the Week and senior kicker Travis Bell the Specialist of the Week following the season opener against Notre Dame. True freshman Jonathan Dwyer was the ACC’s Rookie of the Week following his performance against Samford Sept. 8.
