TALLAHASSEE, FL. – The Georgia Tech track team continued their outdoor success at day three of the FSU Relays in Tallahassee on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets received top honors in four events, including three first place finishes in relay events.
Georgia Tech’s men edged out Florida A&M by .31 seconds to finish first in the 4 x 800 meters with a time of 7:40.47. The men’s distance medley team ‘A’ won its event by nearly 25 seconds with a time of 10:19.40. The women’s team ‘A’ won the same event with a time of 11:34.66, besting its nearest opponent by 10 seconds. The women’s 4 x 200 meter relay team placed second with a time of 1:36.98.
Senior Alisha McClinton finished first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.77. Also in the 100 meter hurdles, senior Mishanta Reyes (14.14) and senior Tosan Osaigbovo (14.38) finished 5th and 7th, respectively.
In the 100 meter gold championship, sophomore Amandi Rhett received a third place finish with a time of 11.76, beating her previous personal best time of 11.83. Teammates Alisha McClinton (11.99) and junior Jessica Defreitas (12.00) finished 7th and 8th.
For the men, senior Joey Zins finished 3rd in the gold 5000 meters, eclipsing his personal time of 15:22.84 with a time of 14:49.56. Senior Matt O’Brien placed 2nd in the 3000 meter steeplechase gold championship.
The FSU Relays conclude tomorrow with the last event scheduled for 4pm.
