THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field started the final regular season weekend of the season with 11 athletes competing on the first day of the Penn Relays.
Fifth-year senior Nicole Fegans had another strong showing, finishing second in the women’s 5000m with a time of 15:41.98. Fegans was with the lead pack the whole race, never placing outside the top three at any split. Also competing in the women’s 5000m was Mary Kathryn Knott who clocked in at 16:42.83.
In the men’s 5000m, two Tech runners posted new personal bests. James Cragin posted a time of 14:08.59, improving his personal best by over 11 seconds and John Higinbotham posted a time of 14:18.74, improving his personal best by nearly 14 seconds.
The women’s 10k had three Jacket personal best times coming from Kenzie Walls (35:28.15), Katy Earwood (35:31.62) and Clay McKnight (35:53. 44). These are improvements of 25.58, 24.06 and 29.78 seconds, respectively.
Zach Jaeger took part in the men’s 1500m, placing just outside the top 10 with a time of 3:50.73.
The White and Gold will continue competition at the Penn Relays on Friday while also competing at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial in Athens, Ga.
