Track & Field's Jordan to Be Featured on FS South's ACC All-Access Thursday

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech track & field junior Alphonso Jordan will be featured on ACC All-Access which will air Thursday at 6 p.m. on Fox Sports South. It will also re-air Friday at 9 a.m. on SportsSouth.

Jordan is currently ranked fifth-nationally in the triple jump after taking the NCAA East Region title with a distance of 53’9.25″ last weekend in Greensboro, N.C. In the effort, the Charlotte, N.C. native broke the 20-year old Tech record of 53’7.25″ set by Rich Thompson in 1989.

Jordan and seven other Jackets will represent the Georgia Tech track & field teams at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Champions, June 10-13, in Fayetteville, Ark. He, along with junior Steve Marcelle (shot put, discus), senior Jerome Miller (high jump), senior Kimery Hern (hammer throw) and sophomore Joanna Wright (pole vault) all received automatic bids to the championships with top-five performances at the East Regional.

Seniors Andy Powlen (shot put), E.C. Gibbs (1500m) and Alana Clooten (hammer throw) received at-large bids, announced Tuesday by the NCAA, with their strong performances during the 2009 season.
