Schedule of Events

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams return to the track this weekend when they take part on the 2010 Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky. Action gets underway on Friday at 6 p.m. and concludes on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Yellow Jackets will be facing tough competition on both the men’s and women’s sides at the meet. In all, four men’s teams and three women’s teams competing in the invite are ranked in the USTFCCA Top 25 preseason poll.

Ranked teams for the women include No. 6 Florida, No. 12 Tennessee and No. 18 Louisville, while the four ranked teams on the men’s side include No. 2 Florida, No. 15 Auburn, No. 17 Kentucky and No. 19 Georgia

“As always, we are looking forward to our trip to Lexington to compete on UKs exceptional facility,” said men’s head coach Grover Hinsdale. “The combination of an excellent track and the quality of the teams competing makes this a great weekend to get some things done.”

“After getting back into competition last week, we’re anxious to travel to Lexington for the Kentucky Invite,” said women’s head coach Alan Drosky, who will be taking 17 athletes to Lexington this weekend. “This quality meet has been a mainstay on our schedule – the competition is very good and the facility is excellent.”

Last weekend, the Yellow Jackets took part in their first indoor meet of the new year at the Clemson Invitational and had a strong showing. Four Jacket athletes won events on the weekend, as Alphonso Jordan and Jhanelle McLeod took the triple jump, Mary Kate DuBard was victorious in the 5000-meter run and Tiffany Grant won the 400 meter dash.

Fans are reminded that results and a full recap will be available on Ramblinwreck.com after competition is finished on Friday and Saturday.
