THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track & field will open up the outdoor season by hosting the first home meet of the season, the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
The meet is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. on Friday with hammer throw. The next events will be the shot put and 100m hurdles at 5:30 p.m. The final event of Friday will be the 5000m, scheduled to start at 8:45 p.m.
On Saturday, action starts with four field events, the high jump, pole vault, triple jump and discus starting at 12 p.m. Events will run continuously during this time culminating in the 4x400m relay at 4:15 p.m.
The Yellow Jackets come off an indoor season that saw six All-ACC honors from Nicole Fegans (first team, 3000m), John Watkins (second team, triple jump), Olivia Moore (second team, pole vault), Shanty Papakosta (second team, high jump), Taylor Grimes (second team, 60 hurdles) and Zach Jaeger (second team, mile).
Fegans was the lone Jacket to make it to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. She qualified in the 3000m and placed 11th earning second team All-American honors.
