ATLANTA (Feb. 24) — Georgia Tech’s track and field team will send a contingent of athletes to the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet Saturday at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va., in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championship.
The Yellow Jackets last competed in the ACC Indoor Championship meet, where the women’s team placed fourth and the men’s squad placed fifth.
The men’s team will send junior Clayton Porter (Chesapeake, Va.) in the long jump, senior Malcolm Leason (Wilmington, Del.) in the triple jump and freshmen Keith Schuler (Florence, Ky.) in the high jump and Brendon Mahoney (Cumming, Ga.) in the mile. The distance medley relay team will compete with Joe Stegall (Rydal, Ga.), Sharif Azim (Marietta, Ga.), Brent Johnson (Fayetteville, Ga.) and Mahoney.
The women’s team will send senior Ayana Grant (Oakland, Calif.) and Nikole Jeffrey (Lithonia, Ga.) in the 60 meter hurdles, sophomore Jessica Defreitas (Lanham, Md.) in the 60 meters and sophomore Mishanta Reyes in the long jump. The distance medley relay team will also compete with Sara Pardue (Aurora, Colo.), Nicole Campbell (Ventura, Calif.), Becky Megesi (Jonesboro, Ga.) and Coquese Renfroe (Denver, Colo).
The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held March 10-11 in Fayetteville, Ark.
