THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team is set to compete at the ACC Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday in Chapel Hill, N.C. at the University of North Carolina’s Belk Track, Fetzer Field and Finley Field.
Live streaming coverage of the events will be available on ESPN3, beginning Thursday at 5 p.m., Friday at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m.
Florida State enters as the defending ACC men’s champion and has won 10 of the last 12 ACC Outdoor Championship titles. The Clemson women will enter the Championship as the four-time defending ACC champion.
In the most recent USTFCCCA rankings, Florida State is the only ACC men’s team ranked, coming in at No. 5.
The women hold three of the Top 25 USTFCCCA rankings. Florida State is currently 15th in the women’s rankings, followed by Notre Dame at No. 22 and Maryland close behind in the No. 24 spot.
Action begins Thursday at 10 a.m. with the men’s hammer throw, followed by the women’s heptathlon at 11:30 a.m. The men’s and women’s 10,000 meter finals close out the opening day at 7:45 p.m.
Friday focuses on the preliminary running events beginning at 4:45 p.m. with the 100m dash, as well as the final field events for men’s shot put and high jump, and women’s javelin, shot put and pole vault. Friday ends with men and women’s steeplechase finals beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s action begins at 11 a.m. and wraps up with the 4×400-meter relays beginning at 7:30 p.m.
