A familiar face will be recognized as Honorary Captain before Saturday’s home game vs. Georgia Southern. You may have seen him standing on the Georgia Tech sidelines, ushering players and coaches on and off the field. And many of you may remember him from his playing days at Georgia Tech, where he was a four-year letterwinner from 1979-82.
Captain Samuel Brown, who was a defensive back with the Yellow Jackets, was the team captain as a senior in 1982 when Georgia Tech finished 6-5. He later spent time with the Cleveland Browns and the Jacksonvillle Bulls (USFL).
Brown would later earn his bachelor’s of science in criminal justice from Columbus State.
For the last 19 years, Captain Brown has been part of the Georgia Tech Football Security detail, spending gamedays on the Tech sidelines and traveling with the team on road trips. He is currently the Recruiting Coordinator / Off-Duty Coordinator for the Georgia State Patrol Department of Public Safety. He and his wife, Adrienne, have been married for 21 years and have two children.
Saturday’s contest will be the biggest game in the state as Georgia Tech (2-0) hosts Georgia Southern (1-1) in the first-ever meeting between the schools. Kickoff is set for 12:03 p.m. ET on FOX Sports South. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.TogetherWeSwarm.com.
