Three Yellow Jackets Qualify For NCAA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –Georgia Tech track and field athletes Julienne McKee, Jeremy Greenwald and Nikita Kirillov qualified for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships set for June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore. after competing Saturday in the final day of the NCAA East Preliminaries hosted by North Florida at Hodges Stadium.

Two days after qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the long jump, McKee added a second event to her NCAA schedule with the triple jump after a qualifying and career-best leap of 13.25m (43-5.75) for fourth place. In the field events at the preliminaries, the top 12 marks qualify for the finals.

Jeremy Greenwald earned his first career trip the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:45.79 and a top-five place in his heat.

Nikita Kirillov will also make the trip to Eugene, Ore. in the pole vault after a third-place showing and a height of 5.32m (17-5.50) in the preliminaries.  

The three Yellow Jackets join Jonathan Gardner to round out Tech’s representatives in Eugene.

Also in Saturday’s events, Broderick Snoddy ran the 200 meters in a time of 21.37 and placed 20th.
