GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three members of the 2006 Georgia Tech volleyball team have been named to the 2006 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Volleyball Team, as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Georgia Tech’s right side hitter Ulrike Stegemann, an AVCA honorable mention All-America and all-ACC selection in 2006 was joined by senior libero Abby Showers and sophomore setter Allie Niekamp on this year’s team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Duke led all schools with six academic selections, followed by Virginia with four. Six schools (Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia Tech) received three nods apiece, while Clemson picked up two. Maryland, NC State and Wake Forest each placed one student-athlete on the team.
