Three Top Ten Finishes for Tech at Kentucky Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Senior Alphonso Jordan registered top ten finishes in both the long jump and the 60 meter hurdles to lead the Georgia Tech track & field squad at the Kentucky Invitational on Saturday.

Things got underway on Saturday in the women’s high jump, where Tech’s Bianca Stewart and Terri Ann Grant finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Both Stewart and Grant registered a 5’8″ jump in the event.

Next up in the women’s long jump, Jhanelle McLeod had a solid 12th place finish after a 18′ 3¼”a effort in the finals. In the men’s portion of the long jump, Jordan recorded his first top ten finish of the day after a 24′ 1¾” leap in the finals to place eighth overall.

Jordan then registered another strong finish in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, finshing in third place in a time on 8.03.

Other top finishers on the day for Tech included Jenae Anderson in the 60 meter dash, who crossed the finish line in 7.67 to finish 16th and Subbu Sivanesan, who placed 12th in the 400 meter dash in 48.93.

In the 800 meter run, Amanda Montgomery finished 17th in a tine of 2:21.21, while teammate Jade Sims placed 19th in 2:25.56. On the men’s side in the 800 meter run, Joseph Stowe placed 14th in 1:57.457, while Shawn Roberts finished 16th in1:57.95.

Antonio McKay Jr. rounded out Georgia Tech’s top finishers on the day with a 12th place finish in the 200 meter dash in a time of 21.95.

Georgia Tech returns to action on Jan 29th when they take part in the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
