THE FLATS – Three members of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team represented the Yellow Jackets in the ITA Preseason Rankings released on Tuesday. Kenya Jones and Nami Otsuka were both ranked in singles, while Jones and Victoria Flores earned a spot in the doubles rankings.
Jones, who finished the 2017-18 season ranked No. 67 in singles, earned a preseason singles ranking of No. 44 to lead the way for Georgia Tech. Tabbed an ITA All-American in doubles to cap her sophomore season, Jones posted a 25-10 overall singles ledger last season and went 29-10 overall in doubles action. In dual competition, Jones posted a 20-6 record and tied for the team lead in singles wins in the ACC, posting an 11-2 mark.
Ranked No. 108 in the preseason singles poll, Otsuka led the Jackets last season mainly from No. 5 where she posted a 17-4 dual record. Overall, the junior went 29-9 in singles play, including a 23-6 dual record and 10-3 conference mark.
In doubles, the Yellow Jacket tandem of Jones and Flores came in at No. 25 in the preseason rankings. The pair competed together against Texas Tech last season, picking up a win in the Michigan Invitational.
