ATLANTA (May 11) — Georgia Tech baseball standout Mark Teixeira, one of the nation’s leading hitters, has been named to the GTE Academic All-District III baseball team. The sophomore third baseman from Severna Park, Md., maintains a 3.3 grade point average while majoring in Management.
Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Teixeira leads the third-ranked Yellow Jackets (40-13, 16-5 ACC) with a .421 batting average, 13 home runs and 60 runs batted in. The Atlantic Coast Conference Player-of-the-Year candidate leads the league with a .758 slugging percentage and a .549 on-base percentage.
Teixeira is now eligible for the GTE Academic All-America team.
