THE FLATS – Georgia Tech senior outside hitter Teegan Van Gunst was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 4 First Team, as announced Thursday by CoSIDA. The honor marks the third of Van Gunst’s career.
Van Gunst advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Van Gunst maintains a 3.88 GPA in mechanical engineering, and was named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® second team.
Van Gunst has 14 double-doubles this season to go along with 17 straight matches with double-digit kills. This season she became one of eight Yellow Jackets in Georgia Tech history to reach 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. She is second in the league in both kills per set (4.24) and points per set (4.74).
Van Gunst and the Yellow Jackets host Virginia Tech and Pitt this weekend in O’Keefe Gym. Action begins Friday at 7 p.m. against the Hokies and continues on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Panthers on the ACC Network Extra.
