Tech's Wong & Anderson Garner ACC Women's Tennis Accolades

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech women’s tennis standouts Jaime Wong and Kelly Anderson were both among the Atlantic Coast Conference women’s tennis honorees on Thursday, as Wong earned All-ACC accolades and Anderson was named the ACC Rookie of the Year as announced by the conference office. The All-ACC team and player, coach and rookie of the year were all decided by a vote of the league’s nine head coaches.

Wong earned All-ACC honors for the third time after finishing the regular season with a 12-5 dual-match record and a team-best 24-8 overall singles record. The senior also teamed with Anderson to form the Jackets’ top doubles team, as the duo finished with a team-best 13-5 record this season.

Anderson in the first Yellow Jacket ever to be named ACC Rookie of the Year and joins her brother Roger as the only two Georgia Tech tennis players to earn the award in school history. She emerged as one of the top newcomers in the ACC after arriving on campus in January, recording a 13-4 overall singles record, while playing primarily at the No. 3 spot in the singles lineup. Anderson is currently ranked 45th in the country in doubles with Wong.

Anderson, Wong and the rest of the fourth-seeded Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will open play in the ACC Tournament by facing fifth-seeded Virginia in the quarterfinals on Friday at 9 a.m. Full tournament results will be available at www.theacc.com., with recaps on all Yellow Jacket matches available at www.ramblinwreck.com.
