Tech's Teixeira Named ACC Player Of The Week

ATLANTA (Apr. 18) — Georgia Tech’s Mark Teixeira was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Yellow Jackets to a perfect 5-0 record against Mercer, The Citadel and Virginia. The sophomore recorded nine hits in 14 at bats (.643), including four home runs, one double and one triple with 11 RBI and 13 runs scored. He also walked eight times to finish the week with a .773 on base percentage and a 1.714 slugging percentage. The Severna Park, Md., native hit safely in all five contests to extend his hitting streak to 17 games.
