KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 16) – Georgia Tech freshman Charlotte Pernet advanced to the finals of the flight 4 singles draw by beating Purdue’s Lisa Walgenbach, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 Saturday at the Tennessee/St. Mary’s Health System Classic at the UT Tennis Center in Knoxville.
Two other Tech players posted singles victories with sophomore Laura Ozolins and senior Tamarra Jenkin winning in the No. 6 and 7 flights, respectively. Ozolins defeated Furman’s Natali The by default and Jenkin topped NC State’s Landis Strader, 6-1, 6-1.
Jenkin also teamed with junior Bobbi Guthrie to win in the No. 2 doubles flight with an 8-5 win over Megan Dunigan and Jarrell Starnes.
Pernet will meet Tennessee Candy Reid for the flight 4 singles title on Sunday.
