Tech's Pardue Hits NCAA Automatic Time in 800 Meters at Gator Invitational

ATLANTA (Feb. 6) – Georgia Tech junior Sara Pardue (Aurora, Colo.) ran the second fastest indoor 800 meters in school history and hit an NCAA automatic qualification time by finishing third in 2:07.21 Sunday (Feb. 6) at the Gator Invitational in the OConnell Center in Gainesville, Fla.

Pardue, who hit an NCAA provisional time last weekend, continued an outstanding indoor season and moved to second on the Tech career performance list in the event. Shellie ONeal holds the school record at 2:07.03, set in 1992, and had held the second place mark as well at 2:07.27.

Sophomore Joe Stegall (Rydal, Ga.) had the mens top performance of the meet for Tech as he finished second in the 3,000 meters in 8:29.39. Junior Clayton Porter (Chesapeake, Va.) was third in the long jump with a mark of 24-4.25 and freshman Brendon Mahoney (Cumming, Ga.) placed fourth in the 800 meters in 1:51.21.

Tech will return to action February 18-19 when it competes in the ACC Championship meet in Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va.
