Tech's Nott and Schnugg Advance to ITA All-American Qualifier

Chattanooga, Tenn. – For the second-straight year, Georgia Tech’s men’s tennis doubles tandem of West Nott and Scott Schnugg have advanced out of the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Pre-Qualifying draw and into the Qualifying round of play. The duo picked up a pair of wins on Sunday at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Nott and Schnugg were solid for the Yellow Jackets on the third day of the tournament, dropping only eight games in two matches, en route to a pair of victories. The duo opened the day against Nebraska’s D.J. Gaetz and Jacek Wolicki, and picked up an 8-3 victory in the match to advance to the round of 32. Nott and Schnugg then downed Mississippi’s team of Karim Alayli and Patrick Chucri by an 8-5 score. The scheduled match with LSU’s Cory Ross and Sebastian Rutka was not played as both teams advanced to the qualifying draw, which will begin on Tuesday.

In other doubles action, Tech’s team of Fabio Campos and Marko Rajevac fell in the second round of the pre-qualies to the team of Johan Berg and Ruben Torres by an 8-6 count, while the Jackets’ tandem of Trevor McLeod and Joao Menano dropped an 8-2 decision to Zoltan Csanadi and Izak van der Merwe.
