Tech's Moros and Schnugg Advance to Flight Semis at Southern Collegiate Championships

ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team continued its strong showing over the weekend at the Southern Collegiate Championships as both Stephen Moros and Scott Schnugg advanced to their respective flight semi-finals on Sunday. The four-day tournament is being held at the Dan Magill Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.

Moros was the first of the two to advance, as he battled through a three-set match to get past Peter Shults of Duke. Moros won the match by a score of 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-1, and advances to face David Bere of Wake Forest in the semis. Bere advanced by defeating Tech’s West Nott in the quarters by a score of 6-2,7-5. That match will get under way on Monday morning beginning at 8 a.m.

Schnugg kept his record as a Yellow Jacket perfect later in the day, as he defeated Ryan Sherry of Florida by a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 count. Prior to Sunday’s match, Schnugg had not dropped a set and now will face John Hangstefer of Chattanooga in a semifinal match beginning at 8 a.m. as well.
