Tech's McCormick, Smith Open Outdoor Season at Texas A&M Multi-Event Festival

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – After the day one of competition at the Texas A&M Multi-Event Festival, Georgia Tech’s Greg McCormick and David Smith rank 16th and 17th, respectively, in the silver decathlon, which opened Thursday.

McCormick posted 3095 points on the first day of his collegiate decathlon debut. Smith is not too far behind, having notched 3088 points.

Brad Bair of Utah State leads the event with 3729 points.

Competition resumes today with the final five events: 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500 meters.

In other action this weekend, several members of the Georgia Tech men and women’s teams will compete in the Auburn Springtime Invitational Saturday.
