Tech's Mahoney Leads Track & Field at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA – Senior Brendon Mahoney led all collegiate competitors in the 1500 meters with a NCAA Region qualifying and personal-record time of 3:41.43 to lead the Georgia Tech track and field teams at the Georgia Tech Invitational at the Georgia C. Griffin Track.

Freshman Cristan Duvall tallied a season-best time of 9:11.48 in the men’s 3000 Steeplechase to finish ninth for the Yellow Jackets. Junior Adam Jones posted a season-best time of 9:58.35 to finish 10th in the event for Tech.

In the men’s javelin throw, juniors Anthony Hoover and Marcus Canty led the way. Hoover finished 10th with a season-best throw of 185’11”, while Canty placed 11th with a mark of 185’06”.

Lead the Tech women in the shot put was sophomore Lauren Reimer. Reimer tallied a mark of 42’0.75″ to finish 18th for the Jackets. On the men’s side, juniors Zeb Sion and Jonathan Spillman recorded top-10 finishes for the Yellow Jackets. Sion posted a NCAA Region mark of 55’03.50″ to finish fifth, while Spillman registered his first NCAA Region qualifying mark with a toss of 54’7.50″ to finish in 10th place.
