GREENSBORO, NC – Georgia Tech and Virginia share this week’s Atlantic Coast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week Honors. Yellow Jackets Eida Mabry and Kele Eveland were named Player and Rookie of the Week respectively, while Deanna Zwarich and Paige Davis earned the honors for Virginia. This marks the fourth straight week that a Tech player has captured player and rookie of the week honors. On the week, Mabry posted 5.33 kills, 2.22 digs and a .415 hitting percentage in leading Tech to two victories over Wake Forest and Duke. Mabry, a right-sdie hitter, had her best match against Wake Forest with 30 kills, 14 digs, three service aces, six blocks and a .393 hitting percentage int he four game match.
Zwarich also recorded big number with 6.25 kills, 1.83 digs, 1.08 blocks and a .363 hitting percentage in helping the Cavaliers to a 2-1 record.
Kele Eveland garnered Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this season, and fourth consecutive week as she recorded 15.00 assists per game as well as adding 2.00 digs per game in Tech’s wins. The freshman also tallied 84 assists against Wake Forest in four games.
Cavalier Paige Davis also earned rookie of the week honors after knocking down 3.83 kills, 4.08 digs and a .276 hitting percentage. It is the first time Davis has received the honor.
