Nov. 15, 2003

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech junior Kyle Rabbitt advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships with a fourth-place finish in the NCAA South Regional Championships, which were hosted by Auburn University at the Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, Ala. Neil McDonagh was the third finisher for Tech, with a 39th-place time of 31:39.66, while freshman Cristan Duvall followed in 49th in 31:53.48. Rounding out the scoring for the Yellow Jackets’ men team was freshman David Herren, who finished 55th overall in 32:03.96.

Georgia and Florida State finished one-two on the men’s side, advancing both teams to the Championships, which are to be held November 24th in Waterloo, Iowa. On the women’s side, Tennessee and Florida State finished first and second with 71 and 93 points, respectively.

Senior Katie Griffin earned all-region honors as she led the Tech women in the six-kilometer race by finishing 22nd in 21:41.92. Following her in scoring were Mary Chind (50th, 22:29.49), Kirby Cross (70th, 22:48.60), Neta Ezer (76th, 22:53.44), and Amy Dock (93rd, 23:25.07).

Complete results for all Yellow Jacket competitors can be found below along with full team results. Because Rabbitt was one of the top-10 individual competitors that were not on one of the top two teams in the meet, he was able to advance as an individual entrant to the NCAA Cross Country Championships at the end of November.
