COLUMBUS, Ohio –
No. 3 seed Kristi Miller won her first set in semifinal action at the ITA National Indoor Championships, but could not hold off eighth-seeded and 13th-ranked Theresa Logar of Stanford, who came back to win 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the finals at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
Miller, ranked eighth in the nation in singles play, came from behind to defeat Duke’s 68th-ranked Jackie Carlton, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in her Round of 16 match and advanced to the semifinals of the season’s second “Grand Slam” of college tennis with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over 11th-ranked Cristelle Grier of Northwestern, the tournament’s No. 6 seed.
The sophomore All-American concludes her fall campaign with an 11-2 record, with her only losses coming to third-ranked Nicole Leimbach of TCU and Logar. Seven of Miller’s 11 victories came against ranked opponents.
