ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s top-ranked Kristi Miller will begin her quest for the NCAA Singles Championship Wednesday afternoon, facing Pepperdine’s Bianca Dulgheru in the Round of 64 at 2:30 p.m. PT. All matches are being played at the Taube Tennis Complex on the campus of Stanford University.
The two-time All-American earned the No. 2 seed in the 2006 NCAA Singles Championships and has been the nation’s top-ranked collegiate player for the last two months.
The Atlantic Coast Conference took each of the first three seeds in the championships, with Miami’s Audra Cohen earning the No. 1 seed, while Duke’s Daniela Bercek was named the No. 3 seed.
Should Miller win Wednesday afternoon, she would face the winner of this evening’s match between Georgia’s Natalie Frazier and Duke’s Jackie Carleton tomorrow at a time to be announced later.
Miller will also be competing in her second NCAA Doubles Championships this week, as she and senior Lyndsay Shosho form the nation’s 10th-ranked doubles team and will meet Pepperdine’s Dulgheru and Eva Dickes Thursday in the first match of the championships. The time will be announced later this evening.
