Tech's Kidd Leads Jackets at USA Outdoor National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior Ashlee Kidd qualified for the semifinals of the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.03 to lead Georgia Tech at the USA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships on Friday night.

Juan Cave, a freshman from Voorhees, N.J., finished third in the high jump with a school record tying mark of 7 feet, 1 1/2 inches, at the USATF Outdoor Junior National Championships. He tied two others but missed on jumps, not clearing 6 feet, 9 3/4 inches, on his first try.

Kidd, a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., will compete in the semis on Friday at 6:45 p.m. ET.

Brandy Depland (triple jump), Andriane Lapsley (100m, 200m), Fatmata Fofanah (100m HH) and Shantia Moss (100m HH) have yet to compete for the Jackets at the National Championships. Mellany Stanislaus (triple jump) will compete in the Junior Championships on Friday at 12:45 p.m. ET.
