Tech's Kidd and Sims Qualify for Finals at USATF Jr. Championships

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Freshmen Ashlee Kidd and Jennifer Sims advanced to the finals of the 400 and 800 meter running events tonight at the U.S.A Outdoor Track and Field Junior National Championships.

Kidd won her heat in the 400 with a time of 53.71 to qualify for the finals. The All-American will run at 8:20 p.m. ET. The top two finishers in each event will compete for Team USA at the World Junior Championships in July.

Sims posted a time of 2:11.62 to finish ninth in the preliminaries of the 800 to stamp her ticket to the finals tomorrow at 7:42 p.m. ET.

Freshman Cristan Duvall will compete for the men’s track and field team in the 3,000-Steeplechase on Sunday at 7:03 ET.
