ATLANTA – Georgia Tech tennis standout Kelly Anderson has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large second-team, as announced by CoSIDA Thursday morning.
Anderson, a junior from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, earned the honor for the second-straight year and is a management major with a 3.87 GPA that has earned all-ACC honors and the ACC Rookie of the Year award in her three-year career on the Flats. She was also a 2004 ITA Scholar Athlete and helped Georgia Tech earn an ITA All-Academic Team honor.
This season, Anderson recorded 23 singles and 26 doubles victories, and she currently ranks in the top-10 in both career categories. Her 60 career singles wins is eighth for most victories in a career, while her 53 doubles victories is currently tied for eight in the Georgia Tech annals.
The At-Large Team consists of student-athletes in all sports other than football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball and soccer and track, while District III includes all Division I schools in Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina and Virginia. To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
