Tech's Howard Named ACC Co-Performer of the Week

April 4, 2005

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Chaunte Howard was named Atlantic Coast Conference female track and field Co-Performer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Howard, a native of Riverside, Calif., tied a Griffin Track record (Tisha Waller [Nike] 2000) in the high jump with a season-best clear of 6 feet, 3-and-a-half inches, to post her 23rd consecutive victory in collegiate competition. That mark is the best recorded so far this outdoor season in the NCAA.

She then anchored the 4×100-meter relay team to a season and conference-best time of 44.45, finishing third. The time was good enough to qualify Tech for the NCAA East Region Championships in that event.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Clemson next Saturday for the Clemson Invitational. The outdoor meet will run all day.
