Greensboro, NC – Georgia Tech senior Fallon Stokes was named as a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference Selection, while senior point guard Alex Stewart was named to the Honorable Mention team, as selected by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
Stokes, who earns all-ACC honors for the second-straight season after being named to the conference’s third team a year ago, turned in the best season of her career in 2004. The Atlanta native concluded the regular season by leading the Jackets in scoring (16.4 ppg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg), while standing third in points and sixth in rebounds in the ACC statistics. She stands seventh in Georgia Tech scoring history with 1,346 career points and was named the ACC Player of the Week twice this season. Stokes has scored 20 or more points in eight games this season and has been in double figures in rebounds six times.
Stewart was named to the Honorable Mention team after leading the league in assists per game (5.71) for the second consecutive season. The Norcross, Ga. native also stands second on the team in points (9.0 ppg) and third in rebounds (5.5 rpg) this season. Stewart became just the third Yellow Jacket to record 500 assists in a career and will be playing in her 121st game in the opening round of the ACC Tournament.
Georgia Tech (14-14, 5-11 ACC) will open play in the ACC Tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. when it faces ninth-seeded Wake Forest (11-16, 4-12 ACC) in the first round in Greensboro, NC. The game will be televised on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network, which includes Fox Sports Net South, Comcast Sportsnet and the Sunshine Network, as well as on the Georgia Tech student radio station, WREK-91.1 FM in Atlanta.
