Tech's Depland Leads Jackets in Final Day of Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Junior Brandy Depland won the triple jump with a NCAA Region qualifying mark of 43’3.75″ to lead Georgia Tech at the Alabama Track & Field Relays. The women’s 4×100 shuttle hurdle relay team of Shantia Moss, Fatmata Fofanah, Andriane Lapsley and Dana Rogers set a new meet record with a time of 54.36.

Sophomore James Lemons II posted a mark of 48’6.25″ in the men’s triple jump to finish in third place. Freshman Jerome Miller cleared the high jump bar at 6’8.75″ to finish third for the Yellow Jackets.

Junior Jewel Welch finished fifth in the women’s javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 114’01”. The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Rogers, Ashlee Kidd, Lapsley and Chaunte Howard posted a first-place finish with a NCAA Region qualifying mark of 44.75.

Senior Jonathan Spillman tossed the shot put 52’3.25″ to register a fourth-place finish to lead the men in the event. Tech will compete in the Florida Relays, March 25-26, in Gainesville, Fla.
