May 28, 2002

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech men’s track student-athlete Olivier Deigni was named to the Verizon District III Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country First Team. He is one of ten members of the team, which honors the top student-athletes in the southeast.

A senior from Abidjian, Ivory Coast, Deigni earned All-ACC honors as a member of the Jackets’ conference champion 4×400-meter relay. He also placed fourth in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the ACC Outdoor Championships, posting a season-best time of 53.16.

In addition to posting his most successful season on the track, Deigni owns a 3.95 grade point average in Aerospace Engineering. He is also a member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

Deigni is now eligible for the Verizon Academic All-American team, which will be announced June 18. The Verizon Academic All-District and All-American teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
