GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) (Nov. 29) — Jason Collier, who led Georgia Tech to the championship game of the Great Alaska Shootout, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference player of the week.
North Carolina’s Joseph Forte took rookie honors Monday.
Collier averaged 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in the shootout. He opened the tournament with 27 points, a career-high 14 rebounds and four assists in the Yellow Jackets’ win over Grambling State.
He got 22 points and 10 rebounds against Washington in the semifinals. Collier finished the tournament with 13 points and 10 rebounds in Georgia Tech’s loss to 10th-ranked Kansas in the championship game.
