Tech's Clayton Porter Hits Automatic Mark At Virginia Tech Last Chance

ATLANTA (Feb. 27) — Georgia Tech junior Clayton Porter (Chesapeake, Va.) recorded the second-best Indoor long jump in school history as he automatically qualified with a leap of 25-9.5 at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet held in Rector Field House.

The women’s distance medley relay team of Sara Pardue, Coquese Renfroe, Nicole Campbell and Becky Megesi set a Georgia Tech and Rector Field House record with a time of 11:22.84, to provisionally qualify, which was .64 of a second away from an automatic time.

Senior Malcolm Leason (Wilmington, Del.) hit a personal best Indoor mark in the triple jump with a leap of 51-5, which is also a provisional mark.

Porter joins Pardue (800 meters) as the current two Tech individuals who have automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championship meet, which will be held March 10-11 in Fayetteville, Ark.
