CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore All-American Chaunte Howard (Riverside, Calif.) and junior Zeb Sion (Pocatello, Idaho) tallied first-place finishes in the long jump and shot put to pace the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams tonight at the Tiger Invitational. Howard posted a mark of 19’1.50″ in the long jump, while Sion tallied a season-best mark of 56’6.50″ in the shot put.
Sophomore Dore’ Madere (Dallas, Texas) posted top-15 finishes in the throwing events for the Yellow Jackets. Madere’ finished 10th in the shot put with a toss of 38’0.25″ and 12th in the weight throw with a mark of 45’0.50″.
Tech rookies Jordan Crosby (Fort Dodge, Iowa) and James Lemons II (Atlanta, Ga.) also shined at the meet for the Jackets. Crosby posted a season-best time of 8.29 in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 8.33.
Lemons placed in the long jump and triple jump events for the Rambling Wreck. The frosh tallied a seventh-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 46’8.75″, while tallying a 17th-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 21’2.50″.
Tech will return to Clemson, S.C., for the 2004 Indoor Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, Feb. 20-21, at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field facility.
