Tech's Catherine Gunn Named ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech freshman women’s tennis standout Catherine Gunn (Winchester, England) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference ‘s Women’s Tennis Player of the Week after recording a pair of wins and leading the Yellow Jackets to a perfect record last weekend in Columbia, S.C.

In singles action, Gunn defeated South Carolina’s Kathy Boyanovich in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0 on February 16 and then followed that win on Sunday with another straight-set victory over Harvard’s Alexis Martire by a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7) the next day.

Gunn is a perfect 7-0 in singles dual match play this spring, helping Georgia Tech to a 5-2 upset win over 22nd-ranked South Carolina and a 5-2 victory over 39th-ranked Harvard.

Gunn and her Yellow Jacket teammates will be back in action on Saturday, when they host top-ranked Georgia at the Bill Moore Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
