Oct. 14, 2001

ATLANTA — Yellow Jacket men’s tennis player Fabio Campos was unable to continue his run of success on Sunday, as he fell in straight sets in the “B” singles draw final of the Georgia Tech Fall Classic. The three-day tournament was contested at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on Tech’s campus.

The match opened in very close fashion, with Campos and Auburn-Montgomery’s Stig Stroem remaining on serve until late in the first set. Stroem then broke Campos’ serve en route to a 6-4 opening-set win. In the second set, the Tech junior was unable to m ount a rally and won only one game in a 1-6 second-set defeat, giving Stroem the 6-4, 6-1 win.

Campos and his Yellow Jacket teammates will return to action next weekend, when they travel to Columbia, S.C., to compete in the South Carolina Fall Classic at the Maxcy Gregg Tennis Center on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
