Eveland Named Region Rookie Of The Year
ATLANTA – Georgia Tech volleyball players Kyleen Bell (Rocklin, Calif.) and Kele Eveland (Grand Rapids, Mich.) each earned all-district honors for the 2000 season, and Eveland also was tabbed as the East Region Rookie of the Year, as announced by the American Volleyball Collegiate Association.
A first-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference selection, Bell finished second in the league with a .337 hitting percentage, was second on the team with 3.71 kills per game. The junior middle blocker also led the team with 1.03 blocks per game and finished fifth on the team with 2.34 digs per game.
Eveland, who was also selected as the ACC Rookie of the Year, compiled 1,483 assists on the season, finished second in the league with 13.01 assists per game and helped the Jackets finish 14th in the NCAA rankings with 17.45 kills per game.
The two players helped the Jackets to a 25-8 ranking this season, including a share of the ACC regular season title, and a first-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
